In Jhabua district, three children suffering from pneumonia were branded with hot rods as a form of treatment. Two of the children are just two months old and as their condition worsened, they were admitted to a district hospital. All three are currently on oxygen support. Two-month-old Sandeep from Parvat village was admitted on September 15. Daniel, the two-month-old son of Sagar from Gopalpura, was admitted on September 20. Two-year-old Parvati from Ambah Khodra was admitted on September 23 and was later referred to Dahod. Deep burn marks discovered on children’s bodies Notably, doctors found severe burn marks on the bodies of children, which brought the incident to light. It was learned that following the advice of a village magician, children were branded by their own family members using hot rods. Two-year-old Parvati suffered burns in multiple places on her neck and stomach from hot wooden or iron rods. Father reports child’s deteriorated condition
As per Daniel’s father, Sagar, child’s health deteriorated while in Vadodara. They then went to Dahod for treatment, where someone advised them about a specific type of treatment. Police investigation ongoing Following the details, police are now investigating who was involved and where the children were allegedly branded at different locations. Hospital submits written report to Station in charge According to authorities, the District Hospital’s pediatrician, Dr. Sandeep Chopra, has submitted a written report about the case to the station in-charge. Additional SP Pratipal Singh Mahobia said that a case has been registered and the investigation is underway. A similar incident had been reported in Jhabua in 2023, which prompted action from the Human Rights Commission. ​
