Mob thrashes mentally disturbed youth in Shivpuri:Kicks and punches him, attackers flee on hearing police siren; probe underway

A mentally disturbed young man was allegedly assaulted by a group of people at Babu Quarter intersection in the Physical area on Saturday night in Shivpuri. They knocked him to the ground, punched, kicked and even pelted stones at him, leaving him bloodied, while bystanders watched without intervening. The attackers fled on hearing a police siren. The injured youth was taken to hospital for treatment. A clip of the incident, recorded by someone present, surfaced on Sunday. Accused attacked youth over stones thrown at car The injured youth has been identified as Arif Khan, a resident of Ghosipura. His family said he suffers from mental health issues and often wanders around the city.Local residents reported that Arif had thrown stones at a car belonging to Atul Bhogra and Rajendra Rathore, parked in the Kamalaganj area. Enraged by this, the youths caught him on Theme Road and beat him mercilessly. Beaten near snooker pool Eyewitnesses said there is a snooker pool near the Babu Quarter intersection. Some young men had come there to play. On learning that stones had been thrown at the car, they chased down Arif and assaulted him brutally. Accused identified, search underway Notably, physical police said that during the initial investigation, the attackers were identified as residents of the old Shivpuri area. A video of the incident has surfaced, and police are now searching for the accused based on the footage. ​
