Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai extended his heartfelt greetings to Speaker Dr. Raman Singh on his birthday at a grand ceremony organized by the Yuva Welfare Foundation at the State School Ground in Rajnandgaon. Chief Minister Shri Sai said that Dr. Raman Singh is a leader of the people who has given a new direction to Chhattisgarh. “I pray to the Almighty that he lives a long, healthy life and continues to guide us in the same way,” he added. The Chief Minister stated that today we are celebrating the birthday of a personality who, as Chief Minister for fifteen years, created a new history of Chhattisgarh’s all-round development. Under Dr. Raman Singh’s leadership, a highly effective model of the Public Distribution System (PDS) was developed, which was adopted across the country. The scheme to provide free food grains to the poor and underprivileged remains a shining example of his compassion. He further said that Dr. Raman Singh empowered farmers by streamlining the paddy procurement process and ensuring that farmers received the full value of their produce. Today, Chhattisgarh pays its farmers ₹3,100 per quintal for paddy and purchases up to 21 quintals per acre — a continuation of the model established during his tenure. Shri Sai highlighted that under Dr. Raman Singh’s leadership, revolutionary changes took place in education, healthcare, and basic infrastructure. Notably, there was a remarkable improvement in the quality of schools and hospitals in tribal regions. When Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi visited the Education City in Dantewada, he appreciated this remarkable achievement of the state. He said that simplicity and modesty are the hallmarks of Dr. Raman Singh’s personality. Despite his vast achievements, he has always remained humble, meeting people of all walks of life with ease and leaving a lasting impression through his gentle demeanor. The Chief Minister also mentioned that this year marks the Silver Jubilee of the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly. Under Dr. Raman Singh’s leadership, the Assembly introduced several innovative initiatives such as the Prabodhan program, which provided legislators with a deeper understanding of parliamentary traditions and democratic values. Renowned singer Padma Shri Kailash Kher added a melodious touch to the event with his captivating performance. The occasion was graced by Agriculture Minister Shri Ramvichar Netam, Health Minister Shri Shyam Bihari Jaiswal, Revenue Minister Shri Tankaram Verma, Food Minister Shri Dayaldas Baghel, Women and Child Development Minister Smt. Laxmi Rajwade, and several other public representatives and distinguished citizens.
