A major burglary incident unfolded on Saturday night in Pacific Blue Residential Society, located in the Misrod area of Bhopal, the police said. Thieves entered the gated colony by cutting the barbed wires along the boundary wall and broke into five flats across three blocks in a single night, the police came to know. The entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras, which show three to four unidentified men entering the premises at around 2:10 am on the intervening night of Friday-Saturday. Police believe the gang conducted a recce before carrying out the theft. Efforts are underway to identify the suspects based on the footage, as per police. Residents discover locks broken, belongings scattered The complainant, Rakesh Katare (45), a resident of Indus Town Phase-3, Misrod, who works as a maintenance staff member at the society, told the cops that he received a call from the society’s president, Rakesh Tiwari, regarding the damaged fence near the railway track. Upon checking CCTV footage, they saw the suspects sneaking into the colony. When Katare and other residents reached the spot, they found the locks of several flats broken and interiors ransacked. The affected flats were identified as: Owners were away for Diwali festivities According to Gupta and Khare, they had travelled to their hometowns for the Diwali festival, leaving old gold and silver ornaments along with some cash in their cupboards, all of which were burgled. In the other three flats, although belongings were disturbed, no valuable items were reported stolen. All five families were away due to the festive holidays, providing the burglars an opportunity to commit the crime. The exact value of the stolen property is yet to be determined. Misrod Police have registered a case and begun an investigation based on the CCTV evidence. ​
