Ahead of the special revision of the voter list in Madhya Pradesh, the Congress has urged the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) to instruct Booth Level Officers (BLOs) to obtain separate declaration forms from houses where 15 or more voters are registered. The demand was made during a meeting of political parties convened by Chief Electoral Officer Sanjeev Kumar Jha, where parties were briefed on the Election Commission’s guidelines regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. Congress representative JP Dhanopia raised several concerns about the ongoing process, calling it “unrealistic” and “rushed.” Congress flags key issues In the meeting, Dhanopia submitted ten major objections and suggestions to the CEO, highlighting the following: Political parties were informed, the voter list has been frozen CEO clarifies SIR process Chief Electoral Officer Sanjeev Jha informed political representatives that the Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced the dates for the second phase of SIR, which includes Madhya Pradesh. He said that the voter list has been frozen with the commencement of the intensive revision. All recognized political parties have been asked to appoint BLAs without delay. The voter list can be viewed on the ECI website (voters.eci.in) and also on the official CEO MP portal. BLOs will visit each household three times during the process.
