On the occasion of the birth centenary celebrations of the great educationist, social reformer, and national hero of the tribal community, Baba Kartik Oraon, a Bhoomi Poojan (groundbreaking) ceremony was organized today in Ambikapur. Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai attended the event as the chief guest. Paying tribute to Baba Kartik Oraon, Chief Minister Shri Sai said that Baba Kartik Oraon is the pride of society. Despite receiving higher education abroad, he never abandoned his religion, culture, and traditions. Following the path shown by his ancestors, he achieved the highest level of education and guided society towards progress. Chief Minister Shri Sai said that Baba Kartik Oraon’s words — “The more we study, the more we will build our society” — continue to inspire us even today. He dedicated his entire life to the upliftment of the tribal community, the promotion of education, and the strengthening of social unity. We must take a pledge to follow his path and work towards the all-round development of society. On this occasion, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai performed the Bhoomi Poojan for the proposed Baba Kartik Oraon Chowk near the Municipal Corporation office and announced an amount of ₹40.79 lakh for the construction of the statue and the chowk. He said that this chowk will stand as a symbol preserving the ideals, thoughts, and contributions of Baba Kartik Oraon. Agriculture Minister Shri Ramvichar Netam said that Baba Kartik Oraon is a source of inspiration for all of us. He devoted his entire life to the upliftment and development of society. We must follow the path he showed us. Honoring the culture, civilization, traditions, and customs of society, he inspired people to move forward. Member of Parliament Shri Chintamani Maharaj said that Baba Kartik Oraon always spread the message of unity, education, and awareness in society. Today, it is important for us to follow his ideals and path to unite and strengthen our society so that the tribal community becomes empowered, self-reliant, and contributes actively to the nation’s development. On this occasion, Samri MLA Smt. Udeshwari Paikra, Jashpur MLA Smt. Raimuni Bhagat, and a large number of distinguished citizens were present.
