A Dalit youth was brutally beaten by five men in Narmadapuram. They dragged him by his hair, hit him with sticks, and abused him. His friend, who tried to save him, was also attacked. The attackers fled after threatening passersby. The incident was captured on video and has sparked concern as it happened near a police station. Attack at Makhan Nagar The incident occurred on Monday at Makhan Nagar’s High School Ground. It is just half a kilometre from the local police station. The video of the attack surfaced on Wednesday. Victims’ account The complainant, Pawan Sharma, told the police that he studies in Narmadapuram. On November 17, he visited Makhan Nagar with his friend, Pradeep Ahirwar, to see Ram Janaki Temple and Kali Temple. They stopped to drink tea near Tehsil Ground before returning home. Miscreants start fighting Around 3 PM, Swayam and Katappa from Makhan Nagar stopped them. They abused Pawan and Pradeep without reason. When asked why, the two men started a fight. Soon, their companions Launcher, Milan, and Naman joined them. All five began hitting Pradeep with sticks. Pawan tried to save his friend. The attackers dragged him to the ground and beat him with sticks too. Passersby saw the attack and rushed to help. Rescue and hospitalisation Passersby intervened, forcing the miscreants to flee. They threatened Pradeep with death before leaving. Pawan took the injured Pradeep to the police station. From there, the police sent him to Makhan Nagar Government Hospital. After first aid, he was referred to Narmadapuram for further treatment. Pradeep suffered injuries to his head, back, and limbs. Pawan was also hurt during the attack. Police action SI Ashok Barwade of Makhan Nagar police station said one accused has been arrested. He is being interrogated. The police are trying to arrest the remaining attackers, who are still at large after two days.
