Hundreds of people in Madhya Pradesh are now facing a new problem while preparing for foreign travel. They may not be able to get education, business, or tourism visas. This is because the yellow fever vaccine, which is required for travel to 42 countries, has again stopped at AIIMS Bhopal. The vaccine had restarted on 21 August after being closed for almost a month, but the stock has now finished again. The yellow fever certificate is necessary for getting a visa. Yellow fever disease is found in many countries in Africa and Latin America. Because of this, vaccination is compulsory for travellers going there. AIIMS Bhopal is the only centre in the state that provides this vaccine, and nearly 200 to 250 people visit it every month. However, AIIMS Bhopal has now run out of the vaccine. Vaccination has been stopped indefinitely, and it is not known when the next supply will arrive. Interruption in Vaccine Supply According to doctors, the COVID-19 pandemic has also affected the production and supply of the yellow fever vaccine. According to experts, this vaccine is manufactured in Brazil, France, and Russia and is supplied to the Government of India through the World Health Organization (WHO). After this, the vaccine consignment is sent to the Central Research Institute (CRI) in Kasauli, Himachal Pradesh, where it is supplied to centers across the country after quality checks. 63 Centers in the Country, Only One in Madhya Pradesh There are a total of 63 authorized centers for yellow fever vaccination in India, but only AIIMS Bhopal provides this facility in Madhya Pradesh. Now that the vaccine stock here has run out, travelers will have to turn to centers in other states of the country, which will increase both time and expense. AIIMS Bhopal said – will inform when new stock arrives Dr. Surya Bali, Nodal Officer of AIIMS Bhopal’s Yellow Fever Vaccination Center, has issued a public notice regarding this. According to the notice, AIIMS currently has no stock of the vaccine. Vaccination sessions every Wednesday have been canceled for now. Vaccination can only resume when a new consignment arrives. AIIMS has issued a public notice on its website and social media, appealing to people not to come here for vaccination. Arrange for an optional facility at any other authorized center in the country. Information about the new stock will be given separately when it arrives. Travelers’ troubles increased People who were in the final stages of preparing for international travel are most affected by the vaccine shortage at AIIMS Bhopal. Many education, business, and tourism visa applications will remain incomplete without this certificate. Travelers say that if they had known in advance, they could have booked slots in other states in time. What can passengers do now? Currently, passengers have the option to book a slot at any of the other 63 authorized centers in the country. However, the availability of vaccines there is also not clear. This could create a major problem for passengers traveling abroad. What to do after vaccination?
