37 Maoists Surrender and Rejoin Mainstream Society

Under the Chhattisgarh Government’s humane, sensitive and result-oriented rehabilitation policy, Bastar today witnessed another significant achievement. As part of the “Poona Margaem: Rehabilitation to Rebirth” initiative, 37 Maoists abandoned violence and chose to return to the mainstream of society. This surrender is not only a step towards personal transformation but also a strong indication of enduring peace and progress in the Bastar region.

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai welcomed the development, stating that Bastar is once again firmly moving toward peace, stability and development. He said that continuous action by security forces, robust administrative coordination, and the government’s rehabilitation-focused policies have led to decisive gains against Maoist violence.

So far in Chhattisgarh, over 487 Naxalites have been neutralised, more than 1,849 arrested, and over 2,250 have surrendered. The Chief Minister said these figures clearly demonstrate a transforming Bastar and growing trust in the government’s policies. The rising number of surrenders has ushered in a new dawn in the region—one defined by peace, harmony, brotherhood and lasting prosperity.

He added that coordinated efforts by the police, security forces, and administration have strengthened the security framework in Bastar, enabling effective control over Maoist activities. The latest surrender reflects the changing ground reality and the growing environment of trust and confidence in the region.

Reaffirming the state government’s commitment, CM Sai said that under the Surrender and Rehabilitation Policy, Poona Margaem and Niyad Nella Naar schemes, every surrendered individual will be provided complete security, dignity and rehabilitation support. These initiatives, he said, are powerful tools to strengthen Bastar’s social fabric and help communities emerge from the shadow of violence.

The Chief Minister expressed confidence that the ongoing positive transformation in Bastar will continue, leading the region toward a new identity of sustainable peace, development, employment, education, and social harmony.
