A passenger jumped out of a moving Air Arabia flight by opening the emergency gate during landing on Sunday morning at Chennai International Airport. The flight had come from Sharjah and had 231 passengers on board. The incident took place around 3:23 am. The Airbus A320 aircraft (flight G9 471) was moving from the runway towards the terminal when the incident occurred. After this, the pilot immediately stopped the aircraft and informed airport authorities. Following the incident, the passenger ran towards the commercial area of the airport, causing brief panic. However, security personnel quickly caught him. The passenger was injured while jumping and was taken for medical treatment. He has been identified as 29-year-old Mohammad Sharif Mohammad Najmuddin. Several flights were delayed, and one was diverted According to an official, after the incident, the main runway (07/25) was closed for safety reasons at 3:25 am. Runway operations resumed around 4:35 am. During this period, several flights were delayed. British Airways flight BA0035, arriving from London, was diverted to Bengaluru. While the main runway was closed, some operations were carried out from the secondary runway (12/30). Claim: accused mentally ill The accused is a resident of Pudukkottai in Tamil Nadu. He is currently being interrogated, and his mental condition is also being examined. Some media reports have claimed that the accused is mentally ill.
