Tech company KPIT Group’s Chairman and Co-Founder Ravi Pandit passed away on Friday, May 8, at the age of 72. The company announced his demise through a statement. However, the cause of death has not been disclosed. Ravi Pandit was counted among the early architects of India’s automotive software and mobility technology ecosystem. Built KPIT into a Global Company in 3 Decades Ravi Pandit led the Pune-headquartered company KPIT for over three decades. Under his guidance, KPIT transformed from a domestic IT services company into a global automotive software and mobility engineering firm. Today, the company provides its services to vehicle manufacturers in America, Europe, and Asia. Under Pandit’s leadership, the company focused on software-defined mobility, electrification, autonomous driving, and clean energy technology. Currently, KPIT’s operations span across 15 countries worldwide. Took Chartered Accountant Firm to International Level Apart from KPIT, Ravi Pandit was also the Chairman of ‘Kirtane Pandit Chartered Accountants’ (KPCA). This is a professional services firm, which he helped expand internationally. Through his efforts, KPCA became one of the largest professional services firms of Indian origin, with over 1,200 experts working across 15 countries. Only Private Sector Member of National Green Hydrogen Mission Ravi Pandit’s influence was not limited to the corporate world alone, but he also made significant contributions in the field of public policy and sustainability. He was the only private sector representative in India’s ‘Empowered Group for National Green Hydrogen Mission’. Recently, he had promoted the ‘Hriday’ initiative, which focuses on hydrogen-based rural and agricultural development. Ravi Pandit was involved in the boards of several major institutions He was also a co-founder of civic and policy platforms like Pune International Centre and ‘Janvani’. He served on the boards of many renowned organizations. These included Thermax Limited, World Resources Institute India, Aga Khan Rural Support Programme India. He was also the President of Maratha Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture (MCCIA). Gold Medalist CA and Award-winning Author Ravi Pandit was a Gold Medalist Chartered Accountant. He studied at MIT Sloan School of Management and was also a Fellow of the Indian National Science Academy. He was honored with honorary doctorates by institutions like Coventry University and Amity University. He also wrote an award-winning book titled ‘Leapfrogging to Pole-Vaulting’, which is based on innovation and sustainable development. What is Software Defined Mobility? It is a technology where vehicle features and functions are controlled by software instead of mechanical hardware. Ravi Pandit was among its early supporters.
