Chief Secretary Vikas Sheel directed officials to expedite work on sanctioned irrigation projects and complete land acquisition and forest clearances in a time-bound manner.

CS Mr Vikas Sheel chaired the Executive Committee meeting of the Chhattisgarh Irrigation Project Board. The meeting attended by WRD Secretary Rajesh Sukumar Toppo and other senior officers.

The CS Mr Vikas Sheel said delays in clearances must be removed on priority so farmers get benefits of irrigation schemes at the earliest.

Key Projects Reviewed:

  1. Pairi-Kodar Link Canal, Gariaband
    Pipeline link canal from Sikaser Reservoir to Kodar Reservoir. Will use surplus water of Pairi river for drinking, domestic and industrial use. To create new irrigation in 25,000 hectares across Gariaband and Mahasamund.
  2. Mohemela-Sirpur Barrage, Raipur
    Proposed on Mahanadi in Arang block. Will ensure lift irrigation in 1,800 hectares. Also to boost tourism, boating and connectivity.
  3. Matnar Multipurpose Project, Bastar
    On Indravati river. Lift-irrigation based project with no displacement or rehabilitation. Seen as a milestone for Bastar while protecting local ecology.
  4. Deurgaon Lift Barrage, Bastar
    Near Jagdalpur on Indravati river. To contribute to Bastar’s economic and social development.

Tender formats for various projects were discussed and approved. CS instructed officials to clear technical and administrative hurdles on priority.
