Abhik De has come under renewed pressure in the RG Kar rape and murder case after Governor RN Ravi ordered a departmental inquiry against the suspended RMO. The probe has been initiated over allegations that he illegally pursued postgraduate training at SSKM Hospital under the service quota system. He further asserted that steps should have been taken much earlier against individuals involved in irregularities within the system. Junior doctors demand strict systemic action Meanwhile, junior doctor and protest leader Aniket Mahato also demanded strict action against everyone allegedly linked to “threat culture” in medical colleges, reiterating calls for accountability and systemic reform in the healthcare institutions. He alleged that individuals who once acted as “fingerprint experts” at the crime scene were actually involved in tampering with evidence. He also claimed that a “culture of corruption” was allowed to flourish within the health department. Khan criticises government response and delays Reacting to the state’s decision, Khan said those who created hurdles in the investigation process should face consequences, and such action should have been taken much earlier. He further criticised the then Health Minister Mamata Banerjee, alleging that no proper steps were taken at the time against irregularities within the system. Khan asserted that no one involved in long-standing corruption within the health department should be spared, and accountability must be ensured regardless of influence or position. ​
