The Finance Minister of Pakistan, Muhammad Aurangzeb, proposed an annual budget of $67.49 billion (PKR 18.77 lakh crore) for the country on Friday, 12 June, 2026. The Shehbaz Sharif-led government increased defence sector allocation by 18%. News daily, Reuters, quoted Aurangzeb as saying in the parliament that the Pakistan government would allocate PKR 3 lakh crore for defence in the fiscal ​year starting July 2026. Before that, the Shehbaz Sharif-led government had unveiled its Economic Survey 2025-26 on Thursday, 11 June. This survey is a pre-budget document that contains details of socio-economic statistics during the outgoing fiscal year.
