MP’s Urban Development Will Get Wings As Plantation Will Be Done In 16 Municipal Corporations Of The State, In 170 Hectares Area. Commissioner Urban Administration Sanket Shantaram Bhondwe had received a proposal from Delhi Metro Corporation for the plantation in Madhya Pradesh and the talks are being held with All 16 Municipal Corporations along with Forest & Revenue department in this regard. Commissioner Urban Administration and Development Department Mr Sanket Shantaram Bhondve further informed that the “City Forest” is being considered by the help of planting on the land of Revenu and Forest Near by the Municipal Corporations. The Commissioner Urban Administration and Development Department Mr Sanket Shantaram Bhondve further informed that the land for forest preparation will be provided by the revenue department, municipal corporations, and forest departments. These lands can be within a 5-kilometer radius inside or outside the city. Madhya Pradesh is set to receive a significant environmental boost with a plan to plant forests across 170 hectares of land in 16 municipal corporations, including Bhopal. This initiative comes as a compensatory measure for the Delhi Metro’s expansion project. The Partnership: Delhi Metro Corporation Limited has approached Madhya Pradesh Metro Corporation Limited to provide 170 hectares of land for afforestation. The Delhi Metro will bear the expenses for this initiative. Land Allocation: The land for forest preparation will be provided by the revenue department, municipal corporations, and forest departments. These lands can be within a 5-kilometer radius inside or outside the city. Public-Private Partnership: The forest creation will be done in PPP mode, where private investors will handle plantation, and municipal corporations will provide funds for forest preparation. The investors will have authority over the forest. Government Guidelines: The government will prepare guidelines for this initiative to ensure smooth implementation. This project aligns with the state’s existing efforts to promote greenery and sustainability. Madhya Pradesh has already set a target to plant one crore saplings within three years under the “Urban Forestry” vertical of the Urban Administration and Development Department. The state has also seen success with the Miyawaki forest method, which involves planting native species to create dense, biodiversity-rich forests Some of the key tree species that can be planted in Madhya Pradesh’s forests include. Teak: A valuable timber tree that grows well in areas with average rainfall of 75-125 cm. Sal: A dominant tree species in Madhya Pradesh’s forests, known for its durability and resistance. Neem: A versatile tree with medicinal properties, suitable for agroforestry systems. Mango: A popular fruit tree that can be integrated into agroforestry systems. Overall, this initiative has the potential t enhance biodiversity, improve air quality, and support the local ecosystem in Madhya Pradesh.
