Govt Grants More Time for AIS Officers’ Annual Appraisals; Final Deadline Dec 31

DoPT Further Relaxes PAR Recording Schedule for IAS, IPS, IFoS Cadres

The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) has further extended the timelines for recording Annual Performance Appraisal Reports for 2025-26 for All India Services officers, including IAS, IPS and Indian Forest Service.

In an order issued on June 30, 2026, DoPT said the decision was taken with the approval of the Competent Authority to give sufficient time to Reporting, Reviewing and Accepting Authorities to complete the appraisal process. The relaxation, granted under Rule 5(1) read with Schedule 2 of the AIS (PAR) Rules, 2007, is a one-time measure.

Revised Timeline:

  • Self-appraisal by officers: July 31, 2026
  • Reporting Authority: September 15, 2026
  • Reviewing Authority: November 15, 2026
  • Accepting Authority: December 31, 2026

The new schedule supersedes the earlier extension issued on April 29, 2026. DoPT clarified that no remarks in the PAR for 2025-26 will be recorded after December 31, 2026, as per the AIS (PAR) Rules, 2007, as amended.

The order has been circulated to all Chief Secretaries of States and Union Territories, central ministries and departments, the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, and other concerned authorities for necessary action.
