A Class VII student from Haldibari in West Bengal’s Cooch Behar district was left stunned after allegedly finding ₹759.69 crore in her bank account while attempting to withdraw her scholarship money. Scholarship withdrawal reveals shocking bank balance The student, Suparna Roy, a resident of Khal Para under Dakshin Bara Haldibari Gram Panchayat, had received a message that ₹800 had been credited to her account as a scholarship. Her father works as a migrant labourer in Kerala, and the family had planned to use the money to buy a new pair of school shoes, as her old ones had worn out. Poor family left completely astonished overnight On Saturday, Suparna visited a local customer service point with her elder brother to withdraw money. After withdrawing ₹900, they checked the remaining balance and were astonished to see that the account reflected ₹759,69,51,951 (over ₹759 crore). Police begin probe into mysterious deposit The unexpected balance has created a buzz across the border town of Haldibari, with residents gathering to verify the claim. The poor family said they were shocked and had no idea how such an amount appeared in the account. Similar incident reported earlier in Falakata Police have begun looking into the matter, while officials are expected to verify whether the balance resulted from a technical error, a banking glitch, or some other issue. Notably, a similar incident was reported a day earlier from Falakata in Alipurduar district, where another economically weaker family’s bank account allegedly reflected crores of rupees, triggering speculation and raising questions over the cause of such unusual transactions.
