Governor Shri Ramen Deka inaugurated the newly constructed auditorium in the Assembly premises.

Since its inception, the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly has developed excellent traditions of democratic values, parliamentary dignity, and discipline that are appreciated nationally. It is a matter of great pleasure that on November 1, 2025, the new Assembly building was inaugurated by the illustrious Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, and today, the newly constructed auditorium in the same complex was inaugurated by Governor Shri Ramen Deka. This is an important achievement towards further strengthening the institutional capacity and democratic system of the Assembly. Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai said this while addressing the Excellence Award Ceremony today in the newly constructed auditorium of the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly.  

In this august function organized to honour democratic traditions, parliamentary values ​​and excellent public representation, Governor Shri Ramen Deka inaugurated the newly constructed auditorium in the Assembly premises.  

During the program, Bilha MLA Shri Dharamlal Kaushik and Akaltara MLA Shri Raghavendra Kumar Singh were honored with the Outstanding Legislator Award for their outstanding parliamentary work. Dainik Patrika correspondent Shri Santram Sahu was awarded the Outstanding Parliamentary Journalist Award for his outstanding contribution to journalism, and IBC-24’s Shri Saurabh Singh Parihar and Dr. Rajesh Raj were awarded the Outstanding Electronic Media Reporter Award for their outstanding reporting in electronic media.

Governor Shri Ramen Deka said that Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly is the centre of public service where public servants perform the sacred rituals of public welfare in the Parliamentary House and hence in democracy the Parliamentary House has been termed as a temple and the prestige of this temple depends on the conduct, behaviour and thoughts of all the members.

He said that the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly is considered an example of one of the best legislative assemblies in the country. The coordination, harmony, and respect between the ruling party and the opposition in this Assembly is certainly praiseworthy and exemplary.

In his address, Governor Deka congratulated and congratulated all the respected public representatives and journalists, saying that in this temple of democracy, public representatives have a responsibility to work with dedication while remaining accountable to the public. Governor Deka said that only when all representatives work together for the development of the state will the state progress continuously. He also called for dialogue with senior citizens, participation in cleanliness campaigns, and prioritizing activities that bring positive change to society.

Chief Minister Shri Sai stated that the Chhattisgarh Assembly is the first and only assembly in the country where an MLA is automatically suspended upon entering the sanctum sanctorum. He said that this system is not merely a matter of adherence to rules, but also a powerful example of self-discipline, parliamentary decorum, and a commitment to democratic values. Such unique parliamentary traditions have given the Chhattisgarh Assembly a unique identity at the national level.

Chief Minister Shri Sai, highlighting the role of journalism in democracy, said that journalism is the fourth pillar of democracy and journalists play the important role of connecting the democratic system with the public. He said that parliamentary journalists play a vital role in conveying to the public, in an unbiased and factual manner, the proceedings of the Legislative Assembly, issues of public interest, and democratic debates. Congratulating the honored journalists, he said that their impartial and responsible journalism further strengthens democracy.

Chief Minister Shri Sai, while praising the honored MLAs, said that Shri Dharamlal Kaushik’s public life has been extremely rich and experienced. He has enriched parliamentary traditions by successfully discharging various important responsibilities, including the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly. Meanwhile, Shri Raghavendra Kumar Singh, despite being a first-time MLA, has established a positive reputation in the House by presenting his views in a factual, studious, and effective manner. He said that the honoring of both public representatives symbolizes respect for democratic values ​​and excellent parliamentary conduct.

In his address, Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh said that following the inauguration of the new Assembly building, the inauguration of the newly constructed auditorium today is another important achievement in the development of the Assembly. He said that the Sixth Assembly of Chhattisgarh will always be remembered for preserving and promoting excellent parliamentary traditions during its tenure. He said that the greatest characteristic of the Chhattisgarh Assembly is that despite political differences, the ruling party and the opposition engage in positive and meaningful discussions on issues of state interest. This is the hallmark of a healthy democracy.

Dr. Raman Singh said that the Awards of Excellence are not just recognition of individual achievements, but also a means of promoting the best traditions of parliamentary democracy. Such honors inspire public representatives, journalists, and democratic institutions to greater accountability and excellence.

During the cultural festivities, renowned bhajan singer Shri Anup Jalota enthralled the audience with his captivating rendition of his popular bhajans. His melodious and soulful rendition imbued the auditorium with a spiritual atmosphere, making the event unforgettable.

Deputy Chief Minister Shri Arun Saw, Deputy Chief Minister Shri Vijay Sharma, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Shri Kedar Kashyap, Leader of Opposition Shri Charandas Mahant, MLAs, Assembly Secretary Shri Dinesh Sharma, senior administrative officers, journalists and dignitaries from various fields were present in large numbers in the programme.
