CM Shri Vishnudev Sai Attends ‘Emerging Chhattisgarh – Empowered Women, Prosperous State’ Program

Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai today attended the ‘Emerging Chhattisgarh – Empowered Women, Prosperous State’ program held in the state capital, Raipur. On the occasion, he elaborated on the state government’s priorities regarding women empowerment, development of Bastar, employment, industry, tourism, good governance and social reforms.

CM Shri Sai said that Chhattisgarh is not just a state, but Chhattisgarh Mahtari for all of us. It is the holy birthplace of Mata Kaushalya and the maternal home of Lord Shri Ram. Indian culture has always given the highest respect to women. Quoting the Vedas, he said, “Yatra Naryastu Pujyante Ramante Tatra Devata” — meaning, where women are honored, there the gods reside.

Mahtari Vandan Yojana Brings Back Smiles On Women’s Faces
CM Shri Sai said the state government is continuously working for the economic and social empowerment of women. Under the Mahtari Vandan Yojana, around 68.50 lakh married women of the state are receiving Rs 1,000 directly into their bank accounts every month. So far, through 29 installments, nearly Rs 18,800 crore has been transferred to women’s accounts.

He said that during his village visits, the confidence and contentment brought by this scheme are clearly visible on the faces of mothers and sisters. In conversations, women share that some have invested the amount in the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana for their daughters’ future, some have bought sewing machines to start earning, while others have opened grocery or vegetable shops to increase income. This is making mothers and sisters financially self-reliant and increasing their role in family decision-making.

Women Of Dansara Village Start Ram Temple Construction With Mahtari Vandan Funds
CM Shri Sai shared that women of Dansara village in Sarangarh-Bilaigarh district have pooled the money received under Mahtari Vandan Yojana to begin construction of a Lord Shri Ram temple. He said this is the most inspiring example of how women are also using the money to preserve society and culture.

Over 30 Lakh Women Linked To Self-Help Groups
The CM said that 2.86 lakh women Self-Help Groups are active in the state, connecting around 30 lakh women. They are being linked to the Ready-to-Eat program and are being given loans and financial assistance to promote self-employment.

Historic Shift In Bastar From Naxalism To Development
CM Shri Sai said that Bastar, which suffered from Naxal violence for four to five decades, is now rapidly moving on the path of development. With the guidance of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the firm resolve of Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah, the courage of security forces and support of local people, peace has been established in Bastar. Along with setting up security camps, development schemes are being implemented simultaneously. Earlier, benefits reached within a 5 km radius of camps, which has now been extended to 10 km.

‘Niyad Nella Nar’ Scheme Reaches Over 500 Villages
Under the Niyad Nella Nar scheme, more than 500 villages have been connected so far. Benefits of over 40 schemes from about 17 departments are being delivered to these villages. People are also being provided essential documents including ration cards and Ayushman cards.

Health Check-up Of 36 Lakh People
Under the CM Swasth Bastar Abhiyan, health check-ups of nearly 36 lakh people have been conducted and serious patients have been referred to bigger hospitals for treatment. Through the Bastar Munne initiative, officers are personally visiting remote villages to resolve public grievances quickly.

Bastar To Become Self-Reliant Through Irrigation, Agriculture And Tourism
The CM said the Deurgaon and Matnar irrigation projects on the Indravati River in Bastar will irrigate nearly 80,000 acres of land.

He added that Chitrakote Falls, Kutumsar Caves, the vast forests of Abujhmarh and villages like Dhudmaras are putting Bastar on the global tourism map. The new industrial policy now includes homestays. Loans and subsidies will be provided for building homestays with up to 5 rooms.

The CM said that value addition of forest produce like tamarind, mahua, harra, baheda, custard apple and medicinal plants is increasing local incomes. In villages like Netanar, women are being trained in sewing, embroidery, packaging and other livelihood skills through Seva Dera. An IIT team is also working on skill development as per local needs.

Strict Law Against Forced Religious Conversion
CM Shri Sai said religious conversion is a serious challenge for society. After studying laws of various states, Chhattisgarh has enacted the Dharma Swatantrya Adhiniyam, 2026. Under this, both those converting and those facilitating conversion must follow the prescribed process. Strict action will be taken against those involved in conversion through inducement, pressure or deceit.

Fast-Track Work On Uniform Civil Code
He said a committee headed by retired Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai has been formed for the Uniform Civil Code. The state government aims to make concrete progress on this by the upcoming winter assembly session.

PSC Scam Probe And Focus On Employment
The CM said the CBI investigation into the PSC scam during the previous government’s tenure is underway and action is being taken against the guilty. He said the current government has provided jobs to youth in various departments and 5,000 teacher recruitments will be done soon.

He added that it is not possible to give government jobs to all youth. Hence, through the new industrial policy, private investment and industries are being promoted to create large-scale employment. In the last 1.5 years, the state has received investment proposals worth over Rs 8 lakh crore, which are expected to create jobs for lakhs of youth.

Women Share Their Experiences
At the event, Smt. Meena Devangan from Balodabazar thanked the CM for Mahtari Vandan Yojana and said she started a bangle business with the money received. Smt. Saroj said she is using the amount to pay her child’s school fees. Both women said the scheme has played a key role in strengthening their family’s financial condition.
