Big Bureaucratic Overhaul: Corporate Affairs, Water Resources, Higher Education, CBI See Key Appointments

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has cleared a major bureaucratic reshuffle with six Secretary-level appointments and three new Joint Directors in the CBI.

The changes span key ministries including Corporate Affairs, Higher Education, Youth Affairs, Inland Waterways, Official Language and Water Resources. The ACC has also approved the premature repatriation of Chandrasekar S., IAS (KL:2014), who was serving as Private Secretary to Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan, back to the Kerala cadre with an “extended cooling-off” condition.

Key Appointments:

• Pallavi Jain Govil, IAS (MP:1994), moves from Youth Affairs to Corporate Affairs Secretary
• Deepti Gaur Mukerjee, IAS (MP:1993), shifts to Higher Education Secretary
• Sushil Kumar Lohani, IAS (OR:1995), named Chairman, IWAI
• Archana Varma, IAS (AM:1995), to take over as Water Resources Secretary
• V.L. Kantha Rao, IAS (MP:1992), posted as OSD, Official Language; to take charge post Ansuli Arya’s retirement on Sept 30, 2026
• Sunil Paliwal, IAS (TN:1993), will now head Youth Affairs

In the CBI, Akhilesh Kumar Singh, Satya Veer Singh and Anish Gupta, all 2008-batch IPS officers, have been appointed Joint Directors with tenures running till 2028.
