Big Boost for Telangana Cadre: 7 Non-Cadre SPs Promoted to Indian Police Service

In a significant career progression, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has promoted seven police officers from Telangana State Police Service to the Indian Police Service (IPS) on probation.

According to the official notification issued by the MHA on August 24, and signed by Under Secretary Uday Prakash Gupta, the officers have been inducted into the IPS under the Select List.

The 7 Officers Promoted to IPS (Probation) are:

1.  Mr. Ravinder Puligilla

2.  B. Sree Bala Devi

3.  V. Arvinda Babu

4.  B. Raja Mahendra Naik

5.  B. Sai Sri

6.  I. Pooja

7.  Mr. P. Karunakar

Probation & Training:

As per the notification, all seven officers will remain on probation for a period of one year under the Indian Police Service (Probation) Rules, 1954.

They will also have to undergo mandatory induction training as per sub-rule 5(4) of the IPS (Probation) Rules, 1954, as amended on May 10, 2011.

The promotion from State Police Service to IPS is granted after detailed scrutiny of service record, seniority and performance by the UPSC and MHA. These seven Non-Cadre Superintendents of Police will now be part of the elite IPS cadre of Telangana and are likely to get new postings soon.
