Yateemkhana Waqf Property Scam: 2.7 Acre Waqf Land Looted for 20 Years, Now Collector to Recover Rs 28.91 Crore

Madhya Pradesh Waqf Board has issued a recovery notice of Rs. 28 Crore 91 Lakh against the NGO Darul Shafqat Society for illegal possession of Waqf property and has registered an FIR.

After the new law made by the Government of India, the UMEED Portal was launched. When the portal went online, many major irregularities came to light.

One of them is Bhopal’s Yateemkhana Waqf Property, which is a notified Waqf property since 1961. This property is spread over 2.7 acres in the heart of the city.

A part of this property was being run by an NGO named Darul Shafqat Society. It is alleged that the operators of the NGO, led by its President, occupied the entire Waqf property and earned crores of rupees from the Isteema market organized there.

For the last 20 years, the income was used personally and no account was given to the Waqf Board.

An RRC (Revenue Recovery Certificate) of Rs. 28,91,00,000 has been issued.

The amount will be recovered by Bhopal Collector from their movable and immovable properties.

The accused had declared themselves as the owners of this property in many government records. After collecting all the documents through RTI, a complaint was lodged with Bhopal Police.
Shahjahanabad Police Station has registered an FIR against Shahid Aleem and his associates.

The properties purchased by the accused from the income generated from this Waqf property in 20 years will also be claimed by the Waqf Board.

Investigation is underway and action will be taken against all office bearers and members of the NGO involved in the scam.
