Recalls the struggles of his student life, says circumstances should not limit a child’s dreams

A heartfelt request to teachers: Please hold the hand of any child who is lagging behind due to poverty, hesitation or any other reason.

He described the values ​​and learnings he received from his teachers as the capital of his life.

On the occasion of Teachers’ Day, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai has written a heartfelt letter to the teachers of the state and paid his respectful homage to them. 

In his letter, Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai shared memories of his student days, touchingly describing his childhood struggles, the difficulties of obtaining an education back then, and the profound changes in the field of education today. He urged teachers to recognize the potential hidden within every child and, especially, to support those children who, due to poverty, shyness, or other reasons, are lagging behind.

Chief Minister Shri Sai wrote that today, while discharging his duties as Chief Minister and having the opportunity to make decisions related to the future and education of the state’s children, he is reminded even more of his childhood and student days. No matter how far life progresses, his respect and gratitude for his teachers never diminishes.

The journey of education started from a small school in Bagiya

In his letter, Chief Minister Shri Sai recalled his childhood, saying that he was born into a humble farming family in Bagiya village, Jashpur district, and began his education at the village school. Life put him to a severe test at a very young age. When he was about ten years old and studying in the fourth grade, he lost his father. Worries about family, farming, and younger brothers became a part of his life from an early age.

After completing his fifth grade in his village, he had to move to Kunkuri for further education. He lived in a small room at Loyola Higher Secondary School. He had a desire to study further, but family circumstances prevented him from continuing his education. He took on the responsibility of farming and furthered the education of his younger brothers.

The Chief Minister said that at that time, access to education was not as easy for a village child as it is today. Schools were far away, transportation was limited, educational resources were lacking, and financial difficulties also hindered many children’s dreams.

From slate to smart class: Chief Minister recalls the changing era of education

Comparing his student days with the current education system, Chief Minister Shri Sai said that looking back, it’s heartening to see how much the world of education has changed. While his generation began their education with slates, blackboards, and chalk, today the children of Chhattisgarh are studying in smart classrooms. Digital media has given them access to knowledge from around the world, connecting them with science and modern technology.

He said that while it used to be a challenge for children to reach schools in remote areas, today better schools, modern educational resources and new opportunities are reaching the doorsteps of children in these areas.

The Chief Minister said that despite this massive change in education, one thing was true then and is equally true today – the most important basis of education is the teacher.

Technology can provide information, but it is the teacher who instills confidence in the child.

Chief Minister Shri Sai, while highlighting the role of teachers, said that technology can provide information to children, books can give them knowledge and modern resources can make the path of learning easier, but only a sensitive teacher has the ability to instill confidence in a child, shape his values, recognize his talent and make him a good human being.

He said that in his own life, the lessons he learned from his teachers gave him the courage to move forward in difficult situations. This is why he considers teachers not just those who teach lessons, but also those who guide his life.

The Chief Minister said that the state government is striving to ensure that the lack and difficulties that once hindered a child’s education no longer become obstacles to their dreams. No child should be left behind simply because they were born in a small village, forest region, or remote area.

Chief Minister Shri Sai said that with this vision, in line with the National Education Policy-2020, work is being done to make education in Chhattisgarh more accessible, modern, practical, and suited to children’s talents. Opportunities for learning in mother tongue and local languages ​​are being expanded. Skills and practical knowledge are being integrated into education, and digital education, smart classes, and modern educational resources are being expanded.

The Chief Minister, specifically mentioning Bastar, said that school bells are being heard again even in areas where schools were closed for years due to circumstances. This change is not limited to buildings, technology, and facilities; at its core is the commitment to provide every child with equal opportunities to thrive.

The Chief Minister said that we want to create such a Chhattisgarh where the circumstances of a child do not limit his dreams.

There are countless possibilities hidden in every child.

Addressing the teachers, Chief Minister Shri Sai said that the state’s teachers are the greatest force in bringing this resolution to fruition. Every child sitting in front of a teacher in the classroom brings with them countless possibilities. Some could become future scientists, athletes, doctors, farmers, teachers, artists, or public servants.

He said that sometimes a child isn’t aware of his or her own potential, but a teacher’s discerning eye recognizes their talent. Even a single word of encouragement from a teacher can empower a child to move forward throughout their lives.

Chief Minister’s special request to teachers: Hold the hand of the child who is lagging behind

On Teachers’ Day, Chief Minister Shri Sai made a heartfelt request to teachers, saying, “Recognize the potential hidden within every child. Especially, hold the hand of a child who is deprived, hesitant, or falling behind for some reason. Perhaps your little faith could change the course of their entire life.”

He said that a teacher’s faith can be a child’s greatest inspiration in life. Therefore, the purpose of education is not just to complete the curriculum, but also to develop a child’s personality, self-confidence, values, and abilities.

In his letter, Chief Minister Shri Sai expressed his heartfelt gratitude to teachers. He said that on Teachers’ Day, he is grateful to all teachers not only as Chief Minister, but also as a student who once attended a small village school and considered the values ​​and teachings he received from his teachers as his life’s treasure.

The Chief Minister said that times have changed, schools are changing, and so are the means of teaching and learning. Modern technology will further transform these in the future, but the relationship of trust, affection, and values ​​between teacher and student, which is the soul of Indian tradition, will never diminish in importance.

Every school should be a door to dreams, every classroom a world of possibilities

Chief Minister Shri Sai appealed to the teachers of the state that together we should build such a Chhattisgarh, where every school becomes a door to dreams, every classroom becomes a world of possibilities and every teacher lights the lamp of hope in the life of his/her students.

He said that it is his wish that the future of children should be bright with the knowledge of teachers, the society should be enriched with their values ​​and with their guidance the new generation of Chhattisgarh should play its role in building a developed India with confidence.

On the occasion of Teachers’ Day, Chief Minister Shri Sai paid his respectful homage to all the teachers of the state and wished them a healthy, happy and successful life and extended his heartfelt greetings to all the teachers and their families.
