VHP says Ansari should come out of his anti-Hindu mindset:Former vice-president said India’s real threat came from Hindu right-wing communalism

The Vishva Hindu Parishad on Sunday attacked former Vice-President Mohammad Hamid Ansari over his remarks on Hindu right-wing communalism. VHP national spokesperson Vinod Bansal accused Ansari of having an “anti-Hindu, Nehruvian and radical mindset”. Bansal said that before describing India’s majority Hindu society as a threat to the country, Ansari should look in the “mirror” of his public life. The statement came after an event held at the India Islamic Cultural Centre on Friday. The event was organised in memory of constitutional expert A.G. Noorani. At the event, Ansari spoke about emerging trends challenging civic nationalism. He referred to a statement by former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. Ansari said Nehru had made the statement at a meeting of Ministry of External Affairs officials. It was recorded by former Foreign Secretary Jagat Singh Gundevia. He said A.G. Noorani had recorded the statement in his 2019 book, ‘The RSS: A Menace to India’. VHP spokesperson accuses Ansari Bansal responded on X to Ansari’s statement. He said, “While serving as Vice-President, you attended programmes linked to the PFI.” He further said, “Several dark stains involving damage to national interests are associated with your tenure as ambassador. Despite this, you are lecturing Hindus on communalism today?” Bansal said, “Remember, if Hindus were truly communal, you would not have had the courage to make such a statement.” Also targets Ansari over criticism of Ayodhya verdict Bansal also targeted Ansari over his criticism of the Ayodhya verdict. He said that India has the highest number of mosques in the world. He said, “You should know that India has the highest number of mosques in the world. You had earlier criticised the historic verdict on Shri Ram Janmabhoomi.” Bansal alleged that Ansari was once again revealing his extremist mindset by making baseless remarks against Hindu society. He also accused Ansari of having an “anti-India and anti-Hindu mindset”. Bansal said, “Rise above Nehruvadi, Jinnahvadi and anti-Hindu thinking. The country has given you position, respect, money and prestige. Be grateful for this and do not be ungrateful.” He further said, “Next time, before lecturing others, it would be better to look at your own reflection in the mirror.” ​
