From Waste to Wealth: Coal & Mines Minister G. Kishan Reddy Unveils Strategic Framework for Critical Minerals Recycling Ecosystem Towards Self-Reliant India in Critical Minerals: G. Kishan Reddy, MoS Satish Chandra Dubey & Secretary Keshav Chandra Launch Concept Paper In a major step towards building a self-reliant and circular economy in the strategic minerals sector, Shri G. Kishan Reddy, Union Minister of Coal and Mines, along with Shri Satish Chandra Dubey, Minister of State for Mines, Shri Keshav Chandra, Secretary, Ministry of Mines, and senior officials of the Ministry and MRAI (Material Recycling Association of India), launched the Concept Paper on Critical Minerals Recycling Ecosystem in New Delhi. The Concept Paper outlines a comprehensive strategic framework for strengthening critical minerals recycling in India. It focuses on: *– Promoting resource efficiency**– Recovery of critical minerals from secondary sources**– Developing a robust, circular and self-reliant critical minerals ecosystem* The initiative is seen as crucial for India’s energy transition, electric mobility, and green technology goals, as critical minerals like Lithium, Cobalt, Nickel, and Rare Earth Elements are key to batteries, semiconductors, and renewable energy systems. Speaking on the occasion, Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy said the recycling ecosystem will reduce import dependency and position India as a global hub for sustainable mineral value chains. The Ministry of Mines, in collaboration with MRAI and industry stakeholders, will now work towards policy incentives, technology development, and formalization of the recycling sector.
