‘Would shoot Gyanesh Kumar if one murder were forgiven’:Mukesh Sahani targets Chief Election Commissioner, praises UP Police

Former Bihar minister and Vikasheel Insaan Party (VIP) founder Mukesh Sahni, who is seeking a political foothold in Uttar Pradesh, attacked Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, saying, “If we were forgiven for one murder, we would first shoot Gyanesh Kumar. But we are people who believe in the Constitution.” Sahni, who praised Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, said he was travelling across the state and observing how the government and administration were functioning, adding, “Yogi ji’s police are doing a very good job.” Sahni made the statement after a media report mentioned differences among Election Commission officials over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR). According to the report, Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi had repeatedly raised concerns within the poll panel over the SIR process. All three officials oversaw the SIR process, but Sandhu and Joshi formally lodged objections at least 14 times over the past 10 months. Four of these objections were lodged on the same day. The report also stated that the objections concerned decisions and orders that had been issued without Sandhu and Joshi’s knowledge. Mukesh Sahani said, ‘Election Commission is working for the BJP’ Mukesh Sahni said democracy is being crushed. The Election Commission has become the BJP’s commission. I want to tell Gyanesh Kumar to have some shame. You are playing with the Constitution of the country. Sahni said he was hurt by the way democracy was being murdered in the country. He said, “If one murder were forgiven, we would shoot Gyanesh Kumar first.” However, he then said that they were people who respected the Constitution. Mukesh Sahni steps up activity in UP ahead of 2027 Mukesh Sahni has increased his activity in UP ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections. He has made several visits to UP since April. His main issue is reservation for the Nishad community. He is also trying to politically unite the Nishad community. Mukesh Sahani joined the protest outside the mortuary at Lucknow’s KGMU (King George’s Medical University) in connection with the recent death of Vinod Nishad in Gonda. Cabinet minister and Nishad Party chief Sanjay Nishad and Samajwadi Party leader Rajpal Kashyap were present at the protest. The leaders demanded action against the accused and justice for the victim’s family. Sanjay Nishad had called him a ‘seasonal politician’ After this, Sanjay Nishad launched an indirect attack on Mukesh Sahani. He said, “Some ‘seasonal leaders’ have still not decided whether they will do business in Mumbai, keep moving around laying carpets for others or continue brokering the votes of the fishing community. That is what he has done in his own state.” Sanjay Nishad said that the fishing community was not a people who could be bought with money. Before trying to teach the fishermen of Uttar Pradesh politics, it must be understood that politics is in their blood. A fisherman may be poor, but he is not the son of a traitor. Because of some people, the community’s reservation benefits were looted and continue to be looted even today. The community is not being allowed to unite. Divisions are being created within it in the name of Kevat, Mallah, Bind and Kashyap. Focus on the Nishad community for 2027 Political analysts say Mukesh Sahani’s frequent visits to Uttar Pradesh indicate his growing political activity. Before the 2027 election, he is trying to strengthen the VIP’s base in Uttar Pradesh. Nishad reservation is the major issue in his campaign. Alongside this, he is appealing to the Nishad community to unite politically. Sahni’s party has been trying to establish its political identity among the fisherfolk and Extremely Backward Class vote banks in Bihar. In such a situation, Sahni’s activism could pose a direct political challenge to the Nishad Party. ​
