The rear section of IndiGo flight 6E 6542 struck the runway while landing at Bengaluru airport. The flight, arriving from Guwahati on Sunday afternoon, encountered difficulty while landing at Kempegowda International Airport. It initially performed a go-around, and during its second landing attempt, its rear section struck the runway at 1.34 pm. However, all passengers are safe. 5 IndiGo flight incidents in 42 days 22 September 2026: A London-Delhi flight made an emergency landing at Heathrow after smoke was detected. 15 September: An Agartala-Delhi flight was diverted to Lucknow after a smoke warning in the cargo area. 3 September: A Doha-Bengaluru flight made an emergency landing in Muscat after the pilot fell ill with suspected food poisoning. 1 September: A Goa-Delhi flight returned to Goa minutes after take-off after an engine failure. 11 August: A Kolkata-Chennai flight made an emergency landing after its left engine stopped working. DGCA launches probe The affected aircraft has been grounded for a technical inspection and will fly again only after it is cleared as safe. IndiGo said authorities were informed as required and passenger and crew safety remains its priority. The aircraft was scheduled to fly to Coimbatore next. IndiGo arranged another aircraft for passengers travelling from Bengaluru to Coimbatore. DGCA has launched an investigation into the incident.
Technical delay: What airlines must provide? If a flight is delayed by 2 to 4 hours due to a technical problem, the airline must provide passengers with free snacks, food and water. If the delay extends overnight or beyond 24 hours, the airline must arrange free hotel accommodation and transport. Airlines must also provide regular updates every 30 minutes. Passengers can choose to cancel the journey and get a full refund or take another flight without paying extra. ​
