Union Home Minister Amit Shah To Chair Crucial Meeting With Odisha & Chhattisgarh CMs On Oct 1, Jal Shakti Minister To Attend

In a major move to facilitate an amicable settlement of the long-pending Mahanadi water dispute between Odisha and Chhattisgarh, the Central Government has convened a high-level meeting under the Chairmanship of Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

The meeting will be held in the presence of Union Minister of Jal Shakti and the Chief Ministers of Chhattisgarh and Odisha.

Chhattisgarh Chief Secretary Shri Vikas Sheel and Water Resources Secretary Shri Rajesh Toppo accompany CM Vishnu Deo Sai. The Chairman, Central Water Commission (CWC), who is heading the Extended Technical Committee, will also make a presentation on the matter.

The Mahanadi river water dispute has been ongoing for years between Odisha and Chhattisgarh over sharing of water and construction of barrages.
