RBI Approves Anup Bagchi as HDFC Bank MD & CEO; ICICI Veteran to Succeed Sashidhar Jagdishan HDFC Bank names ICICI veteran Anup Bagchi as next MD & CEO after RBI nod HDFC Bank, India’s largest private sector lender, has appointed Anup Bagchi as its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer for a three-year term from October 27, 2026, to October 26, 2029, after receiving approval from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). Bagchi, 55, will succeed Sashidhar Jagdishan whose tenure ends on October 26, 2026. He will join the bank’s board as Additional Director from October 2, 2026, subject to shareholder approval. An alumnus of IIT Kanpur and IIM Bangalore, Bagchi is currently MD & CEO of ICICI Prudential Life Insurance and has over three decades of experience. He has been with ICICI Group since 1992 and served as Executive Director of ICICI Bank from 2017 to 2023 and as MD & CEO of ICICI Securities.
