The Houthi forces have launched ballistic missiles and suicide drones at Aden International Airport in Yemen’s port city, Al Jazeera reported on Wednesday. As of now, no casualties have been reported. Meanwhile, the Saudi-led coalition has intercepted a missile north of Riyadh. In a statement on Wednesday, the Ministry of Transport said the Houthis targeted the runway and passenger terminal at the airport with at least two ballistic missiles and several drones. The ministry also said it evacuated the airport terminal and removed two planes from the tarmac during the attacks. Yemen condemns Houthi attack Meanwhile, the Ministry of Human Rights under Yemen’s internationally recognised government has condemned the missile attack by Houthi rebels on Aden International Airport. A report by the Saba news agency, while citing the official statement, said that Airways flight 603 from Cairo was due to land with civilian passengers aboard. It added that the attack also threatened travellers waiting for a flight to the Saudi city of Jeddah. Palestinian youths practise taekwondo amid war ruins Iran has lost ‘complete control’ of Hormuz Strait Iran has failed to take advantage of “multiple opportunities” to reach an agreement with the United States on its nuclear programme, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio says. “The Strait of Hormuz is open, and the quantities of oil exiting through it now are exactly the same as the quantities that were exiting before its closure,” said Rubio. Why is this attack significant? According to Al Jazeera, Aden airport is the main international gateway for parts of Yemen outside Houthi control in the city that has been the seat of the government since the takeover of the capital, Sanaa, by the Iran-supported group in 2014. The Saudi-backed Yemeni government forces say they have tightened control over the highest peak in the Jabal Habashi district of Taiz as part of the “Dawn of Yemen” operation to reclaim territory.
