Bhopal’s Habibganj police on Friday claimed to have arrested two persons, who had allegedly snatched two cell phones from a senior police official, posted at MP Police Headquarters (PHQ) in the city on Tuesday. As per police, the complainant cop, Dr Ashish, is the Inspector General (IG) of Intelligence branch in the MP Police. Two including one minor boy have been arrested in connection with the incident, the police said. Incident unfolds in Char Imli Habibganj police station in-charge Sanjeev Chouksey said that on September 23, 2025, Dr. Ashish (47) reported that three unidentified youths on a motorcycle snatched his two mobile phones, a Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G and an iPhone, at around 10:09 pm near E-11/4 and E-11/5. A case under Section 304(2) BNS was registered at Habibganj police station. Special police teams formed Acting on the directives of senior police officials, station-in charge Chouksey was instructed to form special police teams with the TT Nagar police of Bhopal. Nearly 100 CCTV cameras from the area were examined, and dozens of suspects were questioned. The informer network was also activated to gather leads. Arrest made after tip-off Based on a tip-off, police located the bike used in the crime near Kolar trijunction. Acting swiftly, two accused were arrested. During interrogation, they admitted that the robbery was planned as a quick way to make money. They confessed to snatching the Samsung and iPhone, though the iPhone had fallen during the scuffle. The stolen Samsung phone was later recovered, and was buried near Swarn Jayanti Park. Arrested accused A third juvenile accomplice from Kolar Colony remains absconding, the police said.
