The Ministry of Home Affairs has appointed senior IAS officer Rajeev Verma, a 1992-batch officer from the AGMUT cadre, as the new Chief Secretary of Delhi.

Mr Verma is set to assume charge on October 1, 2025, replacing IAS Dharmendra (1989 batch), who is scheduled to retire at the end of this month.

Mr Verma brings over three decades of experience in both state and central administrations. He has served as Chief Secretary of Chandigarh and Puducherry, and was most recently the Advisor to the Administrator of Chandigarh.

Earlier, Mr Verma held several key portfolios in the Delhi government, including roles as Finance and Revenue Secretary (2018–2022) and Transport Commissioner, and has also served in Defence, Power, and Health Ministries at the Centre.
