In the Morena Divya murder case, police have filed a homicide case against her father, Bantu alias Bharat Sikarwar. Alongside him, 23 individuals—11 identified and 12 unidentified—are accused of tampering with evidence, including disposing of the body in a river and cleaning the crime scene. The list of accused also features Divya’s mother and brother. Authorities received Divya’s postmortem report on Wednesday, confirming that she died from gunshot injuries. Her body was discovered by police on September 28, five days after the murder, and examined by a medical panel at Gwalior Medical College. Following the PM report, the case was officially registered. According to police, Divya was in love with a boy from another caste. She was adamant about marrying him. She wouldn’t listen despite attempts to convince her. Father Bharat Sikarwar was angry about Divya’s love affair. On September 22nd, he had seen Divya roaming on a scooter with some boy. The next day, when aarti was being performed at the Navratri Mata pandal in the colony, the father shot Divya so that the sound of firing would be muffled by the aarti. Soldier brother Ravi’s pistol used in shooting Bharat Sikarwar shot his daughter with his younger brother Ravi Sikarwar’s pistol. Ravi is a soldier who was on duty at the time of incident. His pistol was kept at home in Morena. After the murder, the accused father took his daughter’s body to village Bhagwan Singh ka Pura with help from relatives. He informed that Bharat’s daughter Divya has been missing for two days. He also said that on Thursday he heard gunshots and someone screaming from Bharat’s house. On this, police reached Bharat’s house and interrogated him. Body found after five days During questioning, police learned that Bharat’s house has five members. Wife, two daughters and a son. The elder daughter Divya was missing from home. When asked about her, Bharat gave evasive answers. Police suspicion deepened. Police brought Bharat to the station on Saturday itself.
