A young woman has filed a complaint with the Indore Cyber Cell, stating that her photos were edited to make them nude through a loan app and she was threatened with their virality. A total of Rs 3540 was demanded from the 25-year-old woman. The victim, along with her father, submitted a complaint application to the Cyber Cell, which the police are investigating. The young woman, residing in Shivmoti Nagar, stated that 25 days ago she downloaded a loan app on her mobile. She shared the information requested by the app, such as bank details and photos. After uploading a photo, she received a message that the loan was rejected. Blackmailing with threats A week later, the young woman received a message to pay the loan. The young woman stated that she had not taken any loan. After this, the app operators demanded Rs 1800 under the pretext of checking the account. When the young woman did not pay, Rs 2190 including penalty was demanded, and she was told that if she didn’t pay, her acquaintances would be informed about the fraud. For the third time, she was called and threatened to deposit Rs 3000, and an edited photo was sent on WhatsApp, with a threat to make it viral. Complaint lodged with Cyber cell The young woman revealed the incident when she stopped eating and drinking at home. After talking, her father gathered information about the entire incident. Following this, a complaint was lodged against the loan app and the associated WhatsApp number with the cyber helpline and the state cyber cell. Police have registered a case and started investigation. The young woman told Dainik Bhaskar in a conversation 25 days ago, while using my mobile, I came across an online loan app. After the application was downloaded, I granted the access it requested. Then I provided my information along with bank details and finally uploaded a selfie. A message came saying the loan was rejected. A week later, a call came saying, ‘Please pay the money for the loan you took.’ I said that I hadn’t taken any loan, so they said, ‘Check your account.’ I checked my account and found that 1800 rupees had been deposited, but this amount came from somewhere else, not from the application. I was made to deposit 2190 rupees online, including a penalty. Before Diwali, I received another call. The caller said, ‘Deposit the money, otherwise we will call people connected to your contacts.’ Panicked, I deposited 1350 rupees. A third time, I received a call asking for 3000 rupees. When I refused, they started using abusive language. Then, they morphed my photo on WhatsApp, made it into a nude photo, and sent it. I was threatened with making it viral. RBI has issued guidelines Additional DCP Crime Branch Rajesh Dandotiya stated that RBI has issued clear guidelines to avoid fake loan apps. One should avoid the process of taking loans through any website or app. Post navigation ‘Far From Truth’, LIC Refutes ‘False’ Report Alleging Government Influence Over Adani Group Investments; Calls it ‘Baseless’ Youth beaten with belt, taken to police:Case filed against him in Morena; cops say that after seeing video, a counter FIR will be registered
