Santosh Verma, provincial president of AJAx and a senior IAS officer, has apologised for his comment about Brahmin daughters. Speaking to Dainik Bhaskar, Verma said his remarks were taken out of context. He said, My statement has been distorted. My speech was 27 minutes long, but only a 2-second clip was played and publicised. At the AJAx event where Santosh Verma was elected provincial president on Sunday, Verma had said, Until a Brahmin donates his daughter to my son or a relationship is formed with her, reservation should continue. Regarding Verma’s statement, Dr. Hiralal Trivedi, the national convener of SAPAKS, said, There cannot be a more vile, despicable, and reprehensible statement than this. There are no words for someone who differentiates so much between his own daughter and someone else’s daughter. Whether it’s AJAx, SAPAKS, APAKS, or any other group, such people should be boycotted. The government should also remove them because such a person has no right to hold a public office. The police should register an FIR and arrest him. ‘Reward of 51 thousand declared for blackening his face’ Bhagwati Prasad Shukla, National President of Rashtriya Sanatan Sena, condemned the remark, saying such statements divide society. He demanded immediate action from the Chief Minister and called IAS Verma a ‘terrorist.’ Shukla also announced a Rs 51,000 reward for anyone who blackens Verma’s face. MLA Rameshwar Sharma said, Some casteist people want to disrupt Hindu unity. Criminal mentality will not be tolerated. Sanatan unity will remain. Hindus were one, are one and will remain one. All daughters are respected, all daughters are safe. Brahmin community demanded arrest Pushpendra Mishra, State President of Akhil Bhartiya Brahmin Samaj, said that in a BJP government running schemes like Ladli Laxmi and Ladli Behna, and with the Prime Minister promoting Beti Bachao–Beti Padhao, it is unacceptable for an All India Service officer to make such comments about daughters. He warned that until IAS Santosh Verma is suspended and arrested, the Brahmin community will not remain silent. Upper caste employees to protest in ministry A protest will be held today in the ministry against the objectionable statement made by IAS officer Santosh Verma. Upper caste employees will submit a memorandum to Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla, demanding action against him. Engineer Sudhir Nayak, President of the Ministry Service Officers and Employees Association, said, ‘We will demand action against Verma for violating IAS Service Rules.’ Meanwhile, the Bhopal Hindu Utsav Samiti and Sanskriti Bachao Manch have also strongly objected to this statement.
