The Indian benchmark indices extended losses on Wednesday, January 14, 2026 as negative sentiments spread following the overshadowing of the US ambassador to India, Sergio Gor’s positive comments on India-US trade deal by the US President Donald Trump’s decision to impose 25% tariffs on trading partners of Iran. Sensex closed at 83,382.71 points, registering a fall of 244.98 points. Similarly, Nifty settled on a weaker note at 25,665.60 points. On Monday, Gor had said that both countries would take a call on trade talks on Tuesday. But nothing official came out in written. In other Asian markets, the trading was mixed Foreign investors sold shares worth ₹1,499 crore Market declined on Tuesday The stock market declined on January 13. Sensex closed 250 points lower at 83,628 level. Similarly, Nifty also fell by 58 points. It closed at 25,732. ​
