The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has declared the Class 10 Session-1 results 2026. This year CBSE conducted Class 10 exams under a two board system. Students failing in two subjects can appear for the second attempt under the compartment category while those failing in three or more subjects will have to reappear in 2027. Students will get an opportunity to improve their performance in up to three subjects. Students who fail in up to two subjects will be placed in the compartment category and can appear for the second exam. However, those who fail in three or more subjects will have to appear for the main exam in 2027. The rule will be implemented from the 2025–26 academic session. From 2026 onwards, board exams will be held twice a year. Q. Will it be mandatory to take the exam both times? A. No. Students can choose to appear once, appear in both exams, or reappear in specific subjects in the second exam to improve their marks. Q. If the exam is taken twice, how will the result be determined? A. The better score will be considered final. If marks drop in the second attempt, the first attempt marks will be retained. Q. Will half the syllabus be covered in each exam? A. No. Both exams will be based on the full syllabus and follow the same format. Q. Will there be a supplementary exam after the two exams? A. No. The supplementary exam system for Class 10 will be discontinued under this model. Q. Will exam centres be different for both exams? A. No. The exam centre will remain the same for both attempts. Q. Will separate registration be required? Will the fee be charged twice? A. Registration will be done only once. However, if a student chooses to appear in both exams, the fee will be charged accordingly. Q. Will practical exams also be held twice? A.
