Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha on Friday, April 24, announced his resignation from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Addressing a press conference in Delhi, Chadha said that the AAP had moved away from its original principles and was now working for “personal interests” rather than national welfare. Speaking about his future course, Chadha said he was distancing himself from the party and “moving towards the public”, adding that he and others had worked together to expand AAP in Delhi, Punjab, and other states. Raghav Chadha said that AAP has 10 MPs in the Rajya Sabha, out of which two-thirds, i.e. 7, are with them. He said the people have supported this leadership three times, showing their trust in it. He also expressed that he feels privileged to work under PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, and said he will continue working for the nation with full dedication. Addressing concerns that he may not be able to raise public issues as an MP, he assured that he will continue to highlight the concerns of ordinary citizens with the same commitment and energy. Sanjay Singh alleges ‘Operation Lotus’ against Punjab government Sanjay Singh has accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah of attempting to destabilise the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab. Speaking on the issue, Singh said that “dirty games” were being played against the party and the people of Punjab, and alleged attempts to stop and obstruct the functioning of the Bhagwant Mann government. He further alleged that despite these efforts, an “Operation Lotus” was being carried out against the state government.
