Nepal Airlines faced widespread criticism after it shared a network map on social media depicting Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh as part of Pakistan. The map was posted on Wednesday via the airline’s official social media handles. The post quickly went viral on platforms such as X and Facebook, drawing sharp criticism, particularly from Indian users. Many raised strong objections and condemned the airline for the inaccurate depiction of international boundaries. Swift apology and removal of post Amid escalating backlash, the airline deleted the controversial post within hours. On Thursday, it issued a formal apology, acknowledging “significant cartographic inaccuracies” in the map. In a statement on X, the airline said it “sincerely apologises” for the error, clarifying that the depiction does not reflect the official position of Nepal or the airline. The airline also expressed regret for any offence caused, emphasising that it values strong relations with neighbouring countries and partners in the region. Meanwhile, the Ministry of External Affairs and aviation authorities in India are preparing to register a diplomatic protest against Nepal.
