The Pakistan government has cut the price of petrol by 6 rupees and High-Speed Diesel (HSD) by 6.80 rupees. This has brought the price of one litre of petrol here to 403.78 rupees (Pakistani Rupee) and diesel to 402.78 rupees per litre. The new prices have come into effect today, May 23. The Pakistan government has cut petrol and diesel prices for the second consecutive week. Previously, last week, the prices of both were reduced by 5 rupees each. Relief for common people and the transport sector After continuously rising prices in recent days, this reduction is expected to provide some relief to the budgets of the middle class and lower-middle class, as petrol is mostly used in private transport, small vehicles, rickshaws, and two-wheelers. On the other hand, high-speed diesel is mainly used in the heavy transport sector and for running large generators. Prices are decided every Friday night For some time now, the Pakistan government has been reviewing petroleum prices every Friday night. In fact, Pakistan has been facing a fuel crisis since the war between America and Iran began on February 28 (which is currently paused). Petrol cheaper by 11 rupees and diesel by 11.80 rupees in one week The Pakistani government had earlier cut the price of petrol and diesel by 5-5 rupees on May 16. At that time, the price of petrol in Pakistan had come down to ₹409.78 per litre and high-speed diesel (HSD) to ₹409.58 per litre. A week before that, on May 9, the price of petrol was increased by ₹14.92 and diesel by ₹15 per liter. Immediately after the war began on February 28, the government made petrol-diesel ₹55 per litre more expensive on March 6. On April 2, petrol prices were increased by 43% and high-speed diesel prices by 55%. In India, petrol became ₹4.77 and diesel ₹4.81 more expensive in 9 days Meanwhile, petrol and diesel prices in India have been increased once again today. In Delhi, petrol has become 87 paise more expensive, reaching ₹99.51 per litre. Diesel has become 91 paise per litre more expensive. Its price has reached ₹92.49. Additionally, CNG prices in Delhi-NCR have increased by ₹1 per kg. After this change, CNG will now be available at ₹81.09 per kg in Delhi. This is the third time in the last 9 days that petrol, diesel, and CNG prices have been increased. 4 days ago, on May 19, the prices of petrol and diesel were increased by an average of 90 paise per litre. Whereas, on May 15, prices were also increased by ₹3 per litre. Meanwhile, CNG prices were increased by ₹2 on May 15 and then by ₹1 on May 18. Why did petrol and diesel prices increase? The main reason for this increase is the fluctuation in crude oil prices in the international market. Before the war between Iran and America began, crude oil prices were $70, which have now risen to over $100 per barrel. Oil companies were under pressure due to rising crude oil prices. Therefore, companies have taken this step to compensate for the losses. If crude oil prices continue to rise for a long time, petrol and diesel prices may be increased further.
