A devastating road accident in Maharashtra’s Solapur district claimed the lives of 8 people after a pickup truck plunged into a roadside well near Tandulwadi village in Malshiras taluka. The victims were reportedly returning from a visit to the Siddhanath Temple when the vehicle veered off the road and fell into the well. According to reports, the deceased include women and children. Local residents rushed to the scene after the accident, and efforts were launched to retrieve the vehicle from the well. Accident reportedly occurred on the Mhaswad–Pandharpur route The incident took place near Tandulwadi on the Mhaswad–Pandharpur route. Preliminary information suggests that the group had travelled to the Siddhanath Temple for darshan and was on its way back to the village when the pickup truck fell into the well situated beside the road. Officials fear that the toll could rise if additional victims are found during rescue operations. Minister calls incident unfortunate, orders review of safety measures Reacting to the tragedy, Solapur’s Guardian Minister Jaikumar Gore described it as an extremely unfortunate incident and said authorities were gathering complete information while ensuring that assistance reached the site. He also stated that officials would examine whether the well had a protective parapet wall. According to him, because the well is located immediately adjacent to the road, such a safety barrier should have been present. If it is found to be missing, the matter will be investigated and appropriate action taken. Local legislators express grief Malshiras MLA Uttam Jankar said the accident occurred within his constituency and described it as deeply tragic. He added that he was travelling to the site and had received information indicating that two people survived the incident. MLA Ram Satpute also expressed condolences to the affected families and said he would seek an inquiry into the condition of the well’s parapet wall and surrounding safety arrangements. ​
