Nitish Kumar has once again been elected the national president of the Janata Dal (United). The decision was formally approved at the party’s National Council meeting on Sunday. Meanwhile, Umesh Kushwaha has been entrusted with the responsibility of state president, a decision taken at the State Council meeting. Former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar personally attended the meeting at the party office. He was welcomed with a shower of flowers, while party workers greeted him with drumbeats and chants in his support. After the meeting concluded, Nitish Kumar left for his residence at 7 Circular Road. Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Choudhary said the National Council had formally endorsed Nitish Kumar’s appointment as national president. He also noted that Nishant Kumar actively participated in the meeting. Choudhary expressed confidence that the JD(U) would emerge stronger and perform better in the future. He added that the party will be strengthened across Bihar. He also noted that his father was formally declared the national president during the meeting. Earlier, the Janata Dal (United) held its State Council meeting at the party office in Patna. Discussions were held on appointing Umesh Kushwaha as the state president. The meeting also included deliberations on Nishant Kumar’s future role within the party. Minister Sunil Kumar said that all members unanimously agreed that Nishant Kumar will remain actively involved in the party and has the capability to take on leadership responsibilities in the future. He added that in the coming days, Nishant is expected to be assigned a significant role within the organization. He further stated that the work done by Nitish Kumar in Bihar will be taken to the public by Nishant Kumar. At present, he is an active member of the party, but he is likely to be given a larger responsibility in the future. Meanwhile, MLA Komal Singh described Nishant as a “future leader”, while Minister Ashok Choudhary also referred to him as a future leader and indicated that he would be entrusted with greater responsibilities ahead. Separately, during the State Council meeting, a minor altercation broke out at the entry gate between a woman party worker and security personnel during a routine check. The woman reportedly told a police personnel to “learn manners and stay within limits,” after a brief argument.
