Manoj Agarwal’s term as Bengal CS extended by six months The Centre has approved a six-month service extension for West Bengal Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Agarwal, extending his tenure from August 1, 2026, to January 31, 2027. Shri Agarwal, a 1990-batch IAS officer of the West Bengal cadre, was originally scheduled to retire on July 31, 2026. The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) cleared the extension following a formal request from the state government, which cited the need for administrative stability and continuity in governance.
