PM Shri Modi launches nationwide anti-drug campaign, Governor Shri Deka & CM Shri Sai join state programme in Raipur

100-week ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan’ to raise awareness among youth against substance abuse

Governor Shri Ramen Deka and Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai on Sunday attended the state-level programme of the ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan’ at Lok Bhavan in Raipur, as Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi virtually launched the nationwide campaign from New Delhi.

Addressing the nation virtually, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi said drug abuse affects not only individuals but also families and society. He said the country’s youth have a vital role in achieving the goal of a developed India and urged them to channel their energy and talent towards nation-building by staying away from addiction. He also called on young people to encourage their families, friends and communities to embrace a drug-free lifestyle.

Students, youth, representatives of educational institutions, voluntary organisations and youth groups participated in the programme and pledged to contribute to a drug-free India and raise awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse.
The programme also highlighted the physical, mental, social and economic consequences of substance abuse and encouraged young people to adopt healthy lifestyles and positive values.

Meanwhile, this nationwide campaign will run for 100 weeks across the country. Schools, colleges, universities, the National Service Scheme (NSS), National Cadet Corps (NCC), My Bharat youth organisations and other youth groups will organise awareness rallies, pledge ceremonies, poster and painting competitions, debates, essay writing, street plays, cultural programmes, short film screenings, social media campaigns and community outreach activities.

MLA Shri Purandar Mishra, Governor’s Secretary Dr C. R. Prasanna, Legal Adviser Smt. Satyabhama Ajay Dubey, Raipur Collector Dr Gaurav Kumar Singh, officials from various departments, representatives of educational institutions and a large number of students and youth were present.
