AI For Every District: Chhattisgarh’s Rs 500 Cr Mission Aims To Take Tech To Villages And Towns

Chhattisgarh is set for a major digital leap as the state government approved a *Rs 500 crore Chhattisgarh AI Mission* to position the state as a hub for artificial intelligence, innovation and modern manufacturing.

The decision was taken in a cabinet meeting chaired by *Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai*. The 5-year mission aims to expand the use of AI across education, governance, industry and the startup ecosystem.

The government’s focus is to take AI beyond big cities and deliver its benefits to districts, towns and villages so that citizens at the grassroots can access modern technology.

*100 AI Data Labs And 5 Centres Of Excellence*
Under the mission, *100 AI Data Labs* will be set up across the state. In addition, *5 Centres of Excellence* will be established for research and training in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Data Analytics.

*6 Lakh Students And 1.5 Lakh Employees To Get AI Training*
The government is putting special emphasis on AI-driven skill development. As part of the mission, *6 lakh students and 1.5 lakh government employees* will be trained in AI.
Officials said this will create employment opportunities for youth in future technologies and also improve efficiency in government functioning.

To boost innovation and entrepreneurship, *more than 300 AI startups* will receive financial and technical support. This is expected to generate new AI-based industries and job opportunities in Chhattisgarh.

*Govt Services To Become Smarter And Faster*
The cabinet also approved the development of *50+ AI-based digital services* to make governance more effective and transparent. These services will speed up administrative processes and make it easier for citizens to access government benefits.

The Chhattisgarh AI Mission is modeled on the *Centre’s IndiaAI Mission*, with a special focus on taking technology to rural areas and small towns. This, the government said, will give students, youth, startups and industries in the state a chance to compete at the national level.

*Chhattisgarh To Get First BEML Heavy Equipment Plant In Central India*
Along with the AI Mission, the Sai cabinet also approved a major industrial project. For the first time, a *BEML Heavy Earth Moving Equipment Manufacturing Plant* will be set up in Chhattisgarh.

Around *80 acres of land* will be provided at concessional rates in *Patharia tehsil, Mungeli district* for the plant.

BEML, a Mini Ratna PSU under the Government of India, manufactures heavy equipment for defence, railways, mining and construction. The Chhattisgarh plant will be the *first major BEML heavy machinery manufacturing centre in Central India*.

*Direct Benefit To Mining States, Thousands Of Jobs Expected*
Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh are among India’s top mineral-producing states. The new plant will accelerate manufacturing and supply of bulldozers, dumpers, hydraulic excavators and other heavy machines for the mining sector.

The government estimates the project will create *1,500 to 2,500 direct jobs* and *8,000 to 10,000 indirect jobs*. More than *50 MSMEs* are also expected to develop around the plant, giving a boost to local industries.

Currently, BEML’s main manufacturing units are in Karnataka and Kerala. The new plant in Chhattisgarh will give the state a new industrial identity in both AI and heavy engineering.

The government believes that together, the *AI Mission and BEML project* will make Chhattisgarh a key centre for future technology and advanced manufacturing.
