In a significant development in UP bureaucracy, IAS officer Divya Mittal, a 2013-batch officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre, announced her resignation from the service on Sunday, August 30, bringing an end to her “unforgettable” 13-year journey.

Mittal, who is currently serving as Special Secretary in the Revenue Department, shared the news in a deeply personal and poetic post on X, about an hour ago.

In her note, Mittal said that while her official post has ended, the dream given to her by the country’s soil will remain alive.

Recalling her journey, she wrote that she grew up in an ordinary environment dreaming of a good and successful life. She studied at IIT Delhi and IIM Bangalore before taking up a job in London as an Associate at JPMorgan.

However, she wrote that even after achieving “everything”, she felt something was incomplete.

“Not being in my own country used to trouble me,” she wrote, adding that her education, confidence and the strength to walk with her head held high anywhere in the world were all debts owed to India. “I had to repay that debt,” she said.

Mittal said she returned to India and joined the IAS, describing it as a privilege to contribute to the country she had dreamt of.

During her career, she served as DM of Deoria, Mirzapur and Sant Kabir Nagar. She noted – “Deoria taught me that standing with the right is not an option but a duty. Mirzapur taught me that ‘impossible’ is not a fact, but just an opinion.”
