The Rs 2 crore devotional biopic ‘Hanuman Ansh’ on Neem Karoli Baba has become 2026’s biggest ROI success story. Made by Vishal Chaturvedi and starring Shobinaw Satyaa, the film opened at just Rs 10 lakh on Day 1 and collected only Rs 1.48 crore in two weeks. But on pure word-of-mouth, it exploded from Day 17 onwards — earning Rs 8.5 crore on Day 26 (beating Yash’s Toxic), Rs 10 crore on Day 29, and crossing Rs 97.99 crore gross and Rs 54.74 crore net. That’s over 20x its budget and a 2,500% to 4,000% return.

In comparison, Ranveer Singh’s ‘Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge’ directed by Aditya Dhar is the absolute box office monster of the year. Made on a Rs 225-280 crore budget, it collected Rs 1,177.82 crore India net and Rs 1,830 crore worldwide in 50 days, delivering a profit of Rs 952 crore and 423% ROI — making it the highest-grossing Hindi film ever, beating Pushpa 2.

Verdict: Dhurandhar 2 wins on scale, but Hanuman Ansh wins on efficiency. For every rupee invested, the small spiritual film returned over 20 rupees, proving that faith and word-of-mouth beat star power when it comes to return on investment.
