UFO sighting claimed over Iranian skies:Similar object was spotted back in 1976, fighter jet systems failed while chasing it

An object with lights of different colours has reportedly been seen in the sky over Tehran, the capital of Iran. Several videos of it have emerged on social media. People are claiming that it could be a UFO. The object was flying quite low. Fifty years ago, on 19 September 1976, a similar incident involving a bright object was reported in the sky over Tehran. Iran sent F-4 fighter jets to investigate the object. According to reports, when a fighter jet approached the object, some of its systems stopped working. When the pilot moved away, the systems returned to normal. Official records did not establish what the object actually was. The incident later became widely discussed among people who research UFOs. Video goes viral on social media The video that emerged on social media is said to be from Sunday, 20 September. A post claimed that it was seen near Tehran’s Azadegan Expressway. However, it is still unclear where exactly the object was, at what altitude it was flying, how fast it was travelling and how large it was. Iranian officials have also not provided any official information about it. They have not said what the object was or whether it posed any threat. Claims range from a drone to a kite After the video emerged, people on social media began speculating in different ways. Some said it could be a military drone because of the ongoing war with the US. Others suggested that several drones may have been flying together. Some people, meanwhile, questioned whether the lights could have been a kite or another object when viewed from a distance. According to a Cyber News report, none of these claims has been confirmed so far. The 1976 incident is also mentioned in US records The 1976 incident is also documented in US government records. The archives of the US National Security Agency include a Joint Chiefs of Staff report, a Defence Intelligence Agency report and a US Department of Defence report related to the incident. These documents do establish that an official report was prepared and an investigation was conducted into the sighting of an object in Tehran in 1976. However, there is no evidence to suggest that the object was connected in any way to the video recorded in Tehran this week. Iran threatens US: will attack new targets The video surfaced at a time of heightened tensions between Iran and the United States. Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) issued a warning to the US on Monday. The IRGC said that if tensions with the US escalate further, Iran will use new weapons and new military tactics, and will also target areas that have not been attacked before. IRGC spokesman Hossein Mohebbi said Iran was prepared for a long-term war and would make major changes to its defense and retaliatory measures if the fighting escalated. ​
