Important MoU signed between Government of India and Chhattisgarh Government for the new phase of Modified Udan Scheme

Better air connectivity will give a new impetus to tourism, trade, investment and employment opportunities: Chief Minister

The Chief Minister expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Union Civil Aviation Minister Shri Ram Mohan Naidu.

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai described the agreement between the Government of India and the Government of Chhattisgarh under the new phase of the Modified Udan Scheme as an important step towards a developed Chhattisgarh. He said that this will reduce the geographical distances within the state and accelerate the pace of development. Aviation Secretary Shri Mukesh Bansal signed the agreement on behalf of the Government of Chhattisgarh in New Delhi.

Chief Minister Shri Sai said, “Our effort is to ensure that the benefits of improved air connectivity reach not only major cities but also smaller towns and remote areas. This agreement will strengthen the possibilities for new air connectivity, development of airstrips, and expansion of heli-connectivity in remote areas of the state.”

He said that improved air connectivity will facilitate citizen movement and open up new opportunities for tourism, trade, investment, and employment. Easier access to the state’s natural, religious, and cultural tourist destinations will also boost the local economy. Expanding heli-connectivity in remote areas will also be useful in emergency medical assistance, disaster management, and relief operations.

Expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Union Civil Aviation Minister Shri Ram Mohan Naidu for this important initiative, Chief Minister Shri Sai said that with the coordinated efforts of the Central and State Government, Chhattisgarh will be more strongly connected to the expanding aviation network of the country.

It is noteworthy that under the Modified Udan Scheme, a target has been set to develop 100 airports from the existing unused airstrips in the country and 200 modern helipads in remote areas.
