Three High Court Chief Justices Elevated to Supreme Court SC Gets 3 New Judges: Justices Sunita Agarwal, DK Upadhyay and Aparesh Kumar Singh Appointed Centre Notifies Appointment of 3 New Judges to Supreme Court The Central Government on Monday, October 5, 2026, notified the appointment of three new judges to the Supreme Court of India. Those elevated to the Apex Court are: 1. Justice Sunita Agarwal, Chief Justice of the Gujarat High Court; 2. Justice D.K. Upadhyay, Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court 3. Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh, Chief Justice of the Telangana High Court. The notification comes after the Supreme Court Collegium recommended their names on September 28, 2026. With these appointments, the working strength of the Supreme Court will now be 33 judges against the sanctioned strength of 34, including the Chief Justice of India.
